About One more in my series of photos on local herdsmen. When I started this series most of them were goatherds but things have changed and now there are many fewer goats.Previous photos in this series have been of this man's father, nicknamed El Parron. There are many similarities between the two.

Thank you Ed. Sorry to hear about the 10 years of drought and 10 cents per sheep, sounds like something of a disaster.Thankfully it has started to rain again here after 2 or more years of scarce rainfall.
Regards, Tony

What a fantastic portrait! Brilliant! Love the composition, lighting and the use of low contrast.

Hi Tony...

Faces are the most wonderful reflections of life lived... There is a tweek of cheekiness in this beautiful face... and a gleam in his eyes that makes me smile...

Coincidence!Iwas on the Depreview canon forum this afternoon for the first time in almost a year.Like the majority there I was massively disappointed by the new model;not only have they scrapped the Raw mode but even worse they've eliminated the flip and twist LCD,an invaluable feature on the G6 which I use a lot for my street and architectural photography. The G6 has its faults, the mode dial moves position far too easily and the macro function is no great shakes but overall it gives quality images and I take it everywhere-I love it!!

Hi Tony tank you for the information.... i have noticed in Dpreview.com , from the new G7... don“t have RAW mode i think but that includes 10.0 Megapixel resolution, a 6x optically image stabilised zoom lens and Canon's new DIGIC III image processor.

Thank you Joao. All my phtos are taken in colour mode and in RAW,I use either my Pentax ist D or Canon G6.and I haven't noticed any difference when changed into B/W in channels plus curves.I like to add a bit of noise and to burn and dodge in selected areas.
Thanks for all your comments. Tony

Very cool Tony, this photo grabbed my eye right away. The grain and B/W style image really enhance the feel and the ambiance within your image. I also like your choice of F stop to create the shallow depth of field

I like this Tony. There is a grainy feel to it, that speaks of hardship. The B/W tones compliment it beautifully - can only further echo Jan's thoughts.... As I look more the composition too should not be ignored - again echoing Jans thoughts on the proud herdsman - will look at the others too.
Well done!!

Thank you Jan,there'll be some more shots of him in the near future.Meanwhile, if you like this kind of portrait, take a look at previous shots of his father who's about 40 years older and still going strong. They both love what they do and have a tremendous sense of humour.

Great portrait of a proud man in front of his flock. The depth of field to keep the goats clearly shown and the character coming through in the herdsman's expression is wonderful. The sky adds dimension as well as the other textural elements coming into play here. Congratulations on a fine photo.
