About The afternoon sun was so bright, so I positioned myself so the flowers were backlit to give them "glow" and more color. I shot at 70mm at f/4 to limit depth of field as much as I could. Photoshop was used to crop in about 1/2 inch on top and left side, and to frame--no other digital alterations.

This is outstanding Rodney. The colors are vibrant and I like the natural background. Very nice detail as well. Very nicely done.

good use of dof to isolate the main subject. I'd have to agree with Don about the greens...they do seem to be a little on the blue side.

Regarding your comment about black backgrounds, I use black board behind the flowers, and after shooting, it usually isn't as black as I'd like it, so I use Photoshop's "levels" command, select the black point eyedropper, and move it around the lighter parts of my background until it's as black as possible. That will make your background jet black, but it may also make the rest of your shot too dark, and some adjustements in contrast will have to be made. Hope that helps!

Very nice presentation. Tulip colors are great but I think the greens are too blue. Nice and sharp. Don.

Very good focus and use of dof, lovely vibrant colours and nicely composed, you have also handled the bright light well.

Great use of back light. Wonderful blues and greens in the background. Almost looks like a mirror image. Yells spring, nice composition choice, you were at a good level to shoot. A better than the average floral, with more interest than a simple macro. Welcome!
