About This was quite an experiment and as it seems it worked relatively well.

I was in the train very early in the morning and when the train stopped at a small place (of which I don't even remember the name) the fog and the sun made the atmosphere very unique. It was not as foggy as the photo might suggest, though. I got out of the train to give it a try. The available light was rather low and since I had neither any very fast lenses nor the tripod with me it was a real problem to try a shot with narrow apperture for getting a good sharp focus along the whole depth of the field, which was pretty large as we see. And at that point where I was standing there was no wall, no fence, nothing that I could use to hold the camera fixed for a longer exposition time. I had to use a wide apperture with short exposition time.

So, with the Tokina RMC 28-70mm lens at about 30mm I decided to switch to manual with real working apperture, in order to be able to see my real DoF under different focusing distances through the view finder. Unfortunately neither focusing the near field nor focusing at the depth looked nice. But when I tried to focus very very near, suddenly anything lying further away than a couple of meters from me went very smoothly out of focus. So focusing very very near at wide angle ranges, and having the composition with the very very near field out of the way seemed to work. I gave it a try and this was the result. There seem to be more fog than there really was just because everything is a little bit out of focus in a relatively uniform way and without any extreme defocusing at the far background. Sometimes it is possible to turn disadvantages to advantages, but I wish I could be able in most of the cases to find out how! ;-)

Many many thanks Giuseppe, and what a welcome! Thank you so much! I have been away for some trekking days and when I returned I had some unexpected surprices, like for example that the university of Lucerne still didn't send me my contract though I already worked one month for a project there. Bureaucracy (and mediocracy) seem to rule on this planet ;-)

But now I am back with all of you and I am sooo glad about that.

Thanks a lot again, my friend, have a nice weekend and keep it up!

Many many thanks, Amir!

A big part of the fog was... artificial in a way, but it seems that it worked.

Thanks again!

Thank you Nicola, very very much. I also love the tones. I see now that I didn't write in the "About" box how I shot that, and since it was quite an experiment, I'll edit it now because I feel that it is worth to mention.

Take care and keep it up.
