About This shot was taken today at a local chainsaw carving competition. We ended up buying this piece at the auction.

Last year at the show we bought a large bench carved by this same man and have really enjoyed his work.

As an aside, inspired by the events of 9/11 this man created a life sized carving of several firegfighters at work. He donated it to Squad 1 in New York City and it has found its permanent home there. Nyal is a retired fire captain from WA state (as is my husband) so he was impacted in a big way by this tragedy.

He's very talented and rightly proud of his work.

Hi Nessa,
Thank you so much for asking after us. We have both been so busy that there hasn't been much time for UseFilm. Running the cafe and keeping up with family obligations has been eating up our days! )
I hope that you are doing well too. I've been watching from afar, but haven't been doing much commenting at all.
Hope you have a great summer!

Quality print, Susie! The setting includes interesting elements and some humour! I do get a sense of character. There is something of the man in the bear!

Love this shot. Great piece of work. Now that would be a great competition to see. Great set-up for the shot. Your shots are always perfect in lighting and composition. Background is always appropriate to the shot. Let me know when you're giving lessons. I need to pointers.

Hi Susie, just right for the project. You've captured a look of pride...his hand on the work lends to this sense well. The tractor in the background is a strong prop for a "down-home" hands on work theme. Well done.

Thank you for your version Pablo. After uploading it I did feel it was a little too washed out, but decided to leave it. I liked the softer tones. I think somewhere in between my post and yours might be just perfect. Have a good Sunday!

A beautifully composed portrait of this talented man my dear Susie and I have especially enjoyed reading the 'about' regarding his work and your interest. A very good conversion into these soft mono tones. Excellent clarity of details and a worthy entrant to the project. Well done to you sweetie. My very best wishes to you as always....Ray
