Ray is a kind of person that you only meet once or twice in a life time....a chance encounter with a treasure chest of stories and ideas and the guts to depart form the norm and do his own thing.........the rest of us flit around the place like blue assed flies, mainly dancing to somebody else' tune and simultaenously justifying our ghastly existence with statements like 'my family has to eat' or some other piffling perfunctory banality, in our one candidate race against reality, ooooooh, that rhymes......pathetic!, cum'on, you have often wished you could drop out and be different haven't you? but you just can't do it can you?...not enough guts.....go on, really be yourself, dream a little dream.....!!
interesting image and interesting character.. the dof works even though the focus on his face is slight soft.. seems to add to the overall mood and composition of the photo.. nicely seen and captured
....Ray has been a lot of things, he could've, at one time, run the French Resistance, driven the Orient Express, been Chief Obstetrician at the Guys Hospital in London, briefly,...and been a model for June Daly Watkins.....don't laugh, he actually was a model for June Daly Watkins!! ...so you see, he could be talking about just about anything, with conviction and of course, authority.....shortly after this sitting, he emerged from his caravan in a Cape, sporting a very jaunty 'robin hood hat' with a wedge tail eagle feather and a Balalaika, whereupon he recited, with occasional recourse to the Balalaika, a bush ballad of ten or more verses without looking at the words......what a legend......love your pipe tobacco recollections, mine did too......cheers, david.
You know David, I think you'd be quite the motivational speaker! And I also think we could all do with a Ray at least once in our lives.... So I'm looking at the hand gesture and the seriousness of his expression and wondering what on earth he could be describing? The size of the trout he caught? Strangling a croc? Perhaps he's just signalling for another beer... adventure story telling can be thirsty work!! Seeing that pipe there immediately brought back memories of when my dad used one. Can smell the tobacco :) Good on ya for throwing this one up.
Now, I'm off coz my family has to eat... no, really, it's way past lunchtime here and child services have already warned me once about my usefilm addiction... ;)
