About This image was taken on New Year's Eve, 1999, of a bonfire that started out being 9 ft high and 10 ft across. The fire was lit at 7:00pm. This was taken at approx. 11:00pm when the movement of the wind was swirling the fire in magical ways.

Flames and sparks do make wonderful long-exposure objects - it is an instance where the eye simply cannot integrate what is going on and only after you've developed the film do you get to see what really happened. I found this shot of mine which has the same fine vintage as yours. Thanks for all your thoughtful comments, do know that they are very much appreciated.

Stephen, this was way back when I got my first SLR camera and was tripodless. So, this being handheld there is some motion in the image, but with trying different exposures and different levels of motion this was the best one.
Thanks for taking a look at some of the earlier stuff! *grin*

A spontaneously combusting dervish? It looks like camera movement at the bottom, but the detail at the top belies that conclusion.

Kim,
The photo has great visual impact, be proud of it,Don't
apologise for the low cost camera.....it proves oncemore
that it is the talent behind the camera.

Pleased to hear that you've stepped up in the world with
a "classier" camera.
