About This is an experiment in stitching photos together into a panorama using PSP9 rather than dedicated pano software. This pano is made up from three original images, taken handheld from the same location and adjusted for perspective. The images were taken in Old Town Square in Warsaw.

Thank you, my friend! I see you so much here on UF that I forget you are not a donor - if you were you would see this image HUGE on your screen! (You would also see the imperfections - this is quite an old image now!)

Excellent frame...as it 'fallows' the buildings and EXCELLENT lighting conditions as the light support ONLY the buildings and left the foreground dark, the result is amazing AJ, excellent image!

Lovely! On of the nicest (and few...) views in Warsaw. Can be only matched by the panoramic view of the Old Town from the river...
Beautiful, vibrant colours, you managed to hide the winter grey somewhere ... lol

So what about our common photo session? ;)

Excellent Pano, John That's the next thing I want to try if it ever stops raining long enough. Cheers, Ann.

This is a perfect subject for the pano format, and the fine lighting gives a great quality to the image. Kathy's done a nice job with the "smudge" anomaly. Try also a fairly large soft edged clone brush at a low opacity setting and build up the color first from one side, then the other. That will often neutralize the problem.

Best wishes,
--George

Lovely panorama, John. Looks as if the builders had more trouble stitching the houses together evenly than you did in stitching the photographs of them! Rather higgledy piggledy... There's also a strange "painterly" look, almost as if they are a stage backdrop. Successful experiment, I would say. "Blending" is the technique used by dedicated panorama software to eliminate the differences in sky tone. This uses the entire area of overlap to create a smooth crossover zone to replace the step. It is not possible to eliminate these differences entirely, even if you keep all the settings manual, because the photos are necessarily taken at different angles to the sun. Overcast days are therefore best for panoramas in this respect, although you lose saturation [sigh].

Hi John,
I took this into PS and played with it for a minute. I think it took away the smudge...see what you think. I just cloned the area as best I could, and then used the brush tool, using the color replacement brush, at 40% setting. I'm certainly not the best person to give advice on stitching...I've never done one!

This is an excellent panoramic. Sometimes these can suffer if the adjustments are too strong from the different shots, but not here. You did a great job with the handheld also. The lighting is excellent and the foreground is very interesting.

Many thanks for your comment, Kathy. But you see, you HAVE found trace of the stitching! The smudge in the sky is the result of my frustrated attempt to get rid of the harsh line between the sky of two images which unfortunately had a slightly different tone. I tried all sorts of approaches to cloning, softening and smudging but couldn't get rid of the difference completely. This was the best I achieved before more pressing jobs put a stop to further experimentation! Any suggestions as to how to solve this issue would be much appreciated.

Great job of stiching, John! I can't find any trace of it! Great time of day for the lighting. I like the foreground being nearly silhouette, but the buildings in the full sun. The only nitpicky thing I can find is the white smudge in the sky right in the center. It would be so easy to clone out. Nice job!
