About I think there are some good possibilities in this image, perhaps more so in this view of a gap where two canyons come together. But, I'm not quite envisioning it. I'm open to ideas and suggestions regarding this particular image, even to suggestions of going back and photographing this view differently. I hope to hear from you. Thanking you in advance. Rodney

Hi Rodney...I am not qualified to help in this matter as I do so very little landscaping and like Roger I am not yet adept in PS matters.

However, let me comment on what I like in this composition. I love the lighting that has fallen on the rock formation to the right, the details and textures of which are fantastic with good colour tones. The trees to the left make for good framing. Maybe a cropped version of that right hand side would look good. It is the unlit background that needs attention...though to do the composition justice a return visit with better all round lighting and a shorter focal length lens. I agree with you, there is a great shot lurking there and experimentation may well be the key.....It is great to see you posting again Rodney and I hope to 'see' some more postings from you soon...Best wishes to you...Ray

I'm flattered you turned to me for advice, Rodney, but I think you would have been better off posting it to the "Help" project, as people who are willing and able to give good advice keep an eye on this--I've had some very good advice there. I think my own advice would be to wait for better light as the sun moves around (or of course get there earlier to catch it before it reaches this position). I think the background cliff in shadow works quite well, but the trees on the left could do with more light to make them stand out against it. 180mm is very long, especially with a digital multiplication factor, and I have little experience with this end of things. It would certainly be worth experimenting with a shorter focal length and wider FOV. Others may be able to give you advice on the graphic tweaking that can be done. The shadowed cliff has a strong blue cast, although the colours of the illuminated crag are quite warm. I might try to warm up the shadowed area and take the darkest parts down to black, without making the bright part too warm. But I'm not sure that with my limited PS skills I could pull that off effectively. Hope this helps...
