Thanks for the thoughts, Kim. I've become very dissatisfied with my photography lately, so it's nice to hear the thoughts of others.
Nope, no PS trickery here with the exception of upping the contrast (the original was washed out around the edges) and flipping the image. This photo is actually upside-down (hence the second twist). I liked it better, but I'll include the original for comparison.
I can accept this isn't a very good photograph. I could have pulled back and added some context (the ground, the entire tree, the garden) and made it more of a nature photograph, but I really was going for an abstract. Is it too busy for an abstract? Is it an unlikable photo because it looks creepy, or because the technique is bad?
(BTW, my ego hasn't been damaged and I'm not trying to belittle myself. I'm just trying to be honest.) :-)
Very creative and interesting... wish I knew what I was looking at. The multi coloured roots are very neat. I'm guessing it was done post prod. and not with coloured light. AS an abstract I think it works well... the colours are complimentary, there's just enough jumble to make me take another look, and I am intrigued by the mysticalness of it all. (8)
The only thing that detracts (in my eyes) is the really bright light burst in the lower right. Seems too much of a pattern and draws my eye too much to that corner. Just my thoughts.
