About I recently came across this image from our May 2005 trip to Yosemite (somehow I had missed it on my original survey of trip images). It is taken from Inspiration Point. On the left is El Capital, Half Dome is in the middle background, and Bridalveil Fall on the right.

The sun came through the clouds for a moment and highlighted Bridalveil Fall.

We'd had beautiful weather for the first part of our stay; then the weather turned. The next day we were evacuated for flooding on the valley floor (see other images in my portfolio).

Converted from RAW. PS = conversion to B&W.

I'm also posting a the original color version of this image. Which do you prefer?

I think I prefer the B&W as far as the overall image goes. I also think the b&w would print better. That said, the color serves its purpose well too. It does a better job of putting the viewer in that canyon.

Either way, they're two excellent images. Good job.

Not sure of upgraded website yet. Small picture in this one. Looks fine. Nice stream flow looks like I won't make it there this year.

Great shot, Naomi!! I think the b&w is much more dramatic and pulls the viewer into the scene more so than the colour version. So this one is my preference. Well done. Cheers, Gary

Naomi,
As I said, this one is the winner for me, if only by a little. This is exactly the way I would have tried to print it, so I'm biased :)

Naomi -- From the thumbnail, I thought I would like the color version better. After flipping between the enlaged versions, I think I prefer this B&W. Maybe that's simply my Ansel Adams' vision bias for this canyon. B&W suites it well. Increased drama in the scene.

Thanks for your comment, Bob. No, the light on the falls is totally compliments of Mother Nature. -- Naomi

Yoou almost can't take a bad photo from that point, but yours is excellent. It almost looked like PS work to highlight Bridleveil Falls. The cloud formations are also very dramatic. The B&W gets my vote.
