About
We spent the first week in May in Washington, D.C., and were able to visit the Lincoln Memorial. I stepped behind the pillars to take this picture of this wonderful statue of Abraham Lincoln.
Thanks a lot for your input; I really appreciate it. I was rather wondering myself if I should have cropped this picture as you suggested, so I'm uploading the adjusted photo. Let me know what you think. Thanks again, Nancy
Hi Nancy, This shot is great in that it has potential. As it is presented the statue which is shown in the bacground is the main focal point and the pillars play a supporting role, but the pillars dominate the photo and throw the perspective out of balance. I would crop the photo each side to half of the pillars. The eye is then forced to concentrate on the statue and the inscription and the pillars just frame it beautifully. I like the way you have decided to ignore the traditional full front and inscription view, as it's been done a thousand times, and approach it from a different viewpoint. Ian Pearson
