About Subject is just the great sky I saw this afternoon, on a walk around our house. For maximum FOV, I made two RAW shots, landscape format (handheld, polarizer, @10 mm - that is 16 mm in film terms) and stitched them together vertically with PanoTools. FOV is then 100? horizontally and vertically. I included a small part of the land for scaling. To save as much as possible dynamic range, I chose a soft "low contrast film" setting in CaptureOne for conversion, then applied a multiply blended layer mask for parts of the sky to get a natural tonal range in the clouds.

Adam, you are right, I used a polarizer. And, of course, PS (but not too much, I hope)

This is great, to get the sky such a dark blue at the top, do you use a polarized filter? LOVE THIS PIC!

What I said to you applied to your camera work -- not only PS. Your compositions are fabulous. We are all here to learn and, as I said, I feel so fortunate you found Usefilm! Say no more -- just bask in the warm glow of success.

Blush... Antonia, I post some tech info usually, because I went through a learning curve in PS and am still impressed how PS and other digital tools can enhance our creative potential. So, when commenting on other`s photos, I am curious about the tech background and think other people feel like me. But I hope, PS fiddling does not end in itself - my main goal now and in the future is more to learn about composition ;-)

Breathtaking. What I (and I bet many others here) wouldn't give to be able to look over your shoulder while you do all this work. If you aren't giving lessons, you are robbing the world of a great teacher. Lucky us at Usefilm!!!! Antonia

Lex, thanks for stopping by. Yes, it was a wide angle, actually the widest lens available for my 300D. The FOV is equal to a 16 mm lens in film terms. To get the same 100? FOV in the vertical, I stitched two landscapes together.

Again a wonderfull shot, you have some really impressive shots from the sky!! Was it made with a 'wide angle lens'??? really nice moody sky, i like the clouds and the blue between it! Compliments on the excellent result!

Lex

Wonderful shot of these clouds, the ground looks so dwarfed againt this sky and the different tones of blue give the photo depth. Alison

Very beautifuly sky, and I think they perspective is very nice, seems to really show the vastness of the sky.

Thank you, NIck, for stopping by ! Funny that you mention the toning of the ground... I was out for a realistic impression, and stopped my impulse to pull the sliders with PS to the max, but you are probably right. Often, as in this case, you have to invest much PS until a photo looks realistic ;-)

Absolutely stunning sky! One comment though...the contrast between the brightness and blue of the sky in the top and the bottom of the photo seems too extreme to register as completely realistic.
