This style of potery called Talavera (Like in Spain), and spread throughout the Mediterranean countries, has its origin in the MIddle East, from there went to Spain and from there to Mexico during the COnquista. The differences between the Spanish and the Mexican Talavera are very small indeed. However, there is a certain "old Aztec-indian influenced" quality to the work in Mexico. Personally, I l just like the clours a lot!!!!
Luis, Yes, I have seen some of the work from Portugal. THe work there is also very beautiful, COLOURS COLOURS COLOURS! Does the work has a particular name??? Rafael
