thank you Taran for the comment. hmmm, I usually do not argue that one medium is better than the other -- that is for each person to decide for themselves. the two mediums are simply different... just as you point out. For me I really enjoy the look of film (especially b/w) and I particularly enjoy the craft of film. I realize many others will not enjoy either aspect of film.
Glad we have a choice!

Thx for the info... ; )
Yes... I am very proficient with digi... if I can get prints to equal film in all scenario's... then I will never need film...
I will look into the Epson 2400...
thx dR

Just wanted to interject something a little off topic...
Prints are nice... may I suggest an epson 2400. I am getting stuff that I will happily take the taste test against anything from a darkroom. Film is overrated (gasp). Great medium, but too time consuming. I think an appropriate analogy would be walking vs driving a car. Walking is more enjoyable, fun, and good for you... but ultimately, the destination is the same if you took the car. Do the film guys enjoy the ride more?
It seems to me that by the time you get good with film, half your life is gone. Unfortunately for me, there is no going back, I dont have the time (although I wish I did). I can however safely say that there is nothing like making your own prints in a darkroom, that was what inspired me to be a photog in the first place, watching those images magically appear from the white paper, it was a very romantic and illusory hobby.
Now my darkroom is Photoshop... for better or worse. These days, I can make images that are beautiful but not truthful, images that lie a little to capture the experience. I don't know if this compromises my artistic integrity or not, but I am more happy with my photos now than I have ever been.
Anyways, its transcendal shots like this that make me reflect on the medium. Thanks for sharing.

I know...
those damn guys and their "prints, prints, prints" talk... they have me wanting to expand my toolset to allow this print "freedom"... and allow me to make freakin' HUGE kickass prints of my work.........
I have been telling Stefan that I will MATCH film with digi... (not prints of course)... he is not agreeing with me... haha
I am getting damn close though.... and with my own dR style of course.... ; ) >

sorry to hear about the gear! suffered the same a couple of years ago in the bay area. sucked!
you'll enjoy the f100. film has taken me back a little in terms of creativity (had to expend the energy trying to learn the medium -- and still don't know it very well) but I figure the end result is well worth it. I want to understand the creativity as well as the craft in making negatives and prints :) one day.... one day....
damn rohner and hering! ahahahahahahha

hallo amy and thank you - yes there is a story. we both have crazy, crazy hair. When I have a good foto of him, I will post it - but he does not enjoy the camera so it may take a little time.
So the saying goes 'the apple does not fall far from the tree' :)
