Not really, John. They have ALL of the disadvantages of the earliest and cheapest digital cameras--long shutter lag, severe noise in the shadows, no control over anything (all completely auto), limited resolution, very little capacity (mine's full with just 20 shots)... But it's all the digital camera I ever want, and the price was right. Yes, FREE!!

Amazing with a phone cam, they MUST be a danger to the sales of digital compacts!!

Thanks for the comment, Brad. I have had major problems with my business that left me with no time for photography. Things have settled down a little, and yesterday I went on my first photo shoot for three months. Should be able to post a few over the coming days. Look forward to seeing yours!

This morning it was about freezing along the river, and there was a little fire burning in front of the tent! The man who lives under the bridge has a little more of the comforts of ordinary living--he even has a little portable generator and a TV!

Vould imagine this beeing a shocking image if the tent would be clarly visible and would have the right size. Shocking story anyway.

Roger,
just had to return to wish you the best for Christmas and the New Year. Just in case I don't get to comment on your work later in the week.

Richard, my dog and I have this understanding. I let him smell to his heart's content, and he let's me stop and take pictures...

Keith, I've taken several with my Widelux and one or two with the 21mm lens, and if they're any good I'll put them up. Not developed yet...

Rob, that was why I thought the police would move him on once he was exposed to view, but it hasn't happened yet. The grasses are supposed to be infested with tics, so it's not a good place to camp. The tics originated with wild badgers and foxes, of which we have quite a few this distance from the center of Tokyo.

Roger, this is magnificent. Gorgeous skies, and the bridge is lovely.
Nice spot for a homeless person. I'll never forget my first trip to Miami, with folks camped in the underpasses of the interstate. Anyone and everyone could enjoy a scene like this.

Nice horizon placement. Just enough foreground, I think. have you thought of giving your dog a camera? Or is he more interested in the olifactory than the visual?

Hi Roger, I must admit my first thought was 'shame about the van', but then I read the 'about' and now it feels very appropriate.
I think it might be nice to use one of your wide angle lenses here, take the tent as the major foreground piecem with the bridge as a secondary background. What do you think ?

What a great location to have your 'home' - even if you are home less !
Beautiful sunrise and the hanging bridges provide a great foreground.
well done, regards, ken

Interesting shot Roger, even of very acceptabel quality. Nice panorama. I thought that beggers and the like were not apparent in the very strict Japanede society.
