Hi Craig; first, congratulations on this POTD-- really well deserved! This shot is awesome, and everything is "there"-- the perfect shape of a classic volcano, the gorgeous sky for a backdrop, but for me what really completes it and gives it depth is the nicely silhouetted ridge in the foreground. Yes, luck is part of it! Also climbing another peak where you have a good view of Mount Fuji at 1:00 am then staying up all night freezing in the cold night air waiting for the sun to rise like I did helps! ;-)

Hi Craig, Awesome cascaded landscape. Very well balanced as well as moody image. The combination of cool tones with the distance cue towards mt. Fuji and the warm, radiant tones of the sun rise in the sky are excellent. Stunningly beautiful! The tranquil, almost mystical atmosphere is perfect. Great shot!
