You know I love all of your pictures...this one is wonderful. The light is perfect, and that little face is too sweet. What a lucky child to have such beautiful pictures of herself.

Pat I SEE that NORTH window - don't sell the house! ;) Actually a shot in your portfolio I'm recalling from memory...I believe you with your child on lap...shows that window in larger detail! In any case it's a "keeper"! However I must add that as an artist you do have something to do with that too - well done here too. I will add, as I'm not a "one liner kinda gal" seems you've got a nice rap as "child photographer" to see, noted recently in a comment by M. Bell. ;) So, continue to do what you do! Great shot, I like that the lighting dropped out behind her, makes my eye go to the mouth/noise/eye. I think that left fade helps balance out the softness of the curtains while the face has a nice clean edge.

Except for the "intrusion" of the chair--or whatever that is on the right side--it's a nicely composed shot with a simple background and her face standing out against the darker part of the background. The detail seems slightly washed out near her collar bone, and there's some splotchy graininess at the bottom of her right cheek and along the back of her shoulder--I assume it's not dirt..? Despite the nitpicking, it's really a nice shot and an inspiration for the type of shots I hope to be doing soon..;)

Pat,
I like these shots with the hat - I know that as a Mom we work with what is in the child's wardrobe (whether we buy it or a grandma buys it). However, the shape and simplicity of the hat works so well with her features and often studious look that I was wondering if you ever considered doing these shots with a solid colored hat - the pattern on this one is a bit distracting.
