This is so amazing how your photograph shows how the water strider bug literally floats on water by displacing water molecules enough to inhibit light from penetrating the areas where it's feet touch the water surface. See how the water strider bug's feet displace enough water through natural tension and gravity (actually bending the water's surface) to create shadows below the insect's feet on the bottom of the pond. With a spread legged design, this insect's feet has thousands of tiny hairs that allow it to use water surface tension for support to stay above water. This insect is a powerful predator and scavenger. Evolution works, said the water strider.
