About The dark background offered a good possibility for selective focus on those frozen branches. The branches on the bottom are quite puzzling to me though. Should they be cropped off? The images loses some of its expressive appearance then. Any ideas?

I see what you mean, Ardalan! Many thanks for the suggestion. Now I just have to wait until the next winter, and hope that:

a) The tree is still there, and

b) that there will be some snow - considering the global climate change. ;-) :-/ :-(

All the best,

Nick

yes,Nick...
you are right...
it's lost a sort of geometric or ,say, balance composition....

but the thing is that, we need those branches on focus... if you can take another shot like that... and this time with a good and charming focus... i'm sure it will work out pretty much well... as you will get more useful space in your frame...
thanks for your respect and attention...

Good luck with your future activities...

Cheers,
Ardalan...

And your opinion is much too important for being "only" your opinion, Marta!

But I was the one that was not very precise. I meant that even viewing the cropped and the unaltered image, I can't decide which version is better. The original does possess more character but the cropped possess clearer definition. A dilema!

Best wishes,

Nick

Sorry Nick for not beeing precise :)
What I wanted to say is to leave it without changes, without cropping the branches off.
I think that the second version is not well-composed. It makes the picture loses it's character...but it's only my opinion :)

Many thanks for the ncie comment, Marta! I am still puzzled about the branches out of focus, about cropping them off or not, but I am glad that you like it.

Best wishes,

Nick

Many many thanks for the nice and detailed comment, Ardalan! Following your argumentation I cropped off the bottom part with the branches out of focus. So it won definition but again lost a bit of its geometric relations, I think.

What do you think?

Cropped bottom off according to Ardalan's arguments

I like it the way it is...:)
I think it's quite unprecedented way of taking pictures and very original...
Good choice of background...

best wishes

well...to my eyes...those out of focus braches at bottom,is a bit distracting... specially in this kind of shot that we need to have a glance on the middle and back, rather than the blury bottom of foreground...

so...i believe that the background and those curvy sort of branches are quite well captured and on focus... and the fence line is pretty applealing becuase those cossing sort of lines...

yes...the overall result is quite amazing...
well-seen and taken...

good job mate...

keep it up!

Ardalan...
