I like this centered but you have other things going on that make it work. Her outstreached arms; the lean across the sunset reflection coming across the water giving the impression of motion; the sky line that is pretty even; the rocks to the water and skyline balance at least for me; the framing of the two rocks in the corner. Plus it is definitely backlit without flaring. Whisps of hair showing good fucus on your subject...IMHO anyway...I like it. Kerry

The soft, gentle colours of the sunset are co trasted by the distinct outline of the girl. Positioning her to block the Sun is very effective. As far as centering--the horizon is not centered and neither is her energy. Her pose and energy envelope the entire scene thus spreading it out, not concentrating it in the center. If she were standing there with her arms by her sides, centering may have been a concern. But it is not a concern here.
You know the only thing I noticed with this is the frame. I usually like frames. Somehow with this, though, I would rather see no boundaries to the eminating energy. For me, it would take my mind beyond each edge of the picture. I really like this.

Well done silhouetting, Alison! If it's impossible to compose because of the geography, you might be able to crop in post processing for a more off center composition. It's good as it is though, the thirds rule isn't always inviolate!

Rule are made to be broken and you have aced this wonderful capture indeed...
Since my other love is shooting guns I do tend to bullseye a lot of my shots as well, but that's what I like... hehehe
