I like it too. Your post-treatment revealed the clouds and haze hanging above the horizon.

Hi Gary, thanks for your very detailed and informative response. From looking at the original it looks like you didn't have a lot of pp work to do. It looks like I need to attempt these shots while there is still light in the sky. I'll give it a try the next chance I get.
All the best. Joe

Hi Joe. Well, mostly what I did with this shot was increase the contrast and adjust the levels in PS. (i can't remember if I used the autolevel function or just did it manually... sometimes autolevel works well but mostly it over exagerates imo) No filters were used here other than the normal UV (lens protector) filter and it was just a single shot. It was actually quite hazy/low contrast before the adjustment, but no other tricks were used. I think, from my experience, the lower the moon is to the horizon, the better the overall exposure will end up being as there is still enough light to illuminate the ground and not burn out the brightness of the moon. I'll post the original here... (notice that ugly dust speck on the sensor... grrrrrr) Thanks for the comment and have a great weekend! Cheers, Gary

Great shot Gary. I like the warm colour of the mountains. The silhouette of the trees along the bottom is very nice. The moon tops it off. I tried to take a similar shot last night of the moon with some trees and a cabin. I found the dynamic range of the light was too great for me to get the moon as well as the rest of the image in proper expose. Any tips? ND filter? Composite? Excellent job on this one.
Regards. Joe

Hi Khaled. I only had my 100-300mm lens out with me, as such this is the widest angle I was able to get, but I agree with you that it would have been nice to have a bit more foreground in this one. Thanks for the comment. Cheers, Gary

Clear moon photo and very nice blue to red tones of the sky. May be I would have liked to see more of the silhouetted trees in the foreground but still it's a wonderful moody photo. Good work Gary, Khaled.
