That's Mt. Hahnen near the small alpine village of Engelberg. I thought that making the sky look very similar in coloring to the snow on the mountain, the impression could be supported that the mount stands at the end of the world. Nothing behind it. I hope it was at least partially successful.
This mountain stands really like a fortress there. It looks unreachable, impossible to clumb up. But there is a very easy and elegant way to get on the top. Can you see it?
As usual, there's many solutions to a problem, but mathematicians and mountaineers admire mostly the elegance of the approach. Especially when they are both mathematicians *and* mountaineers. ;-)
Oh, I'm sorry, of course I should have gived the height. Well, this is only the upper 1/5 or 1/4 of the whole mountain. The whole mountain is 2606 meters high. So this part is about 580 meters high.
Despite the missing data and your inexperience with mountains... hey! You got it! Your way through the middle is golden! The other one to the far right is also viable but a bit dangerous when you come near the edge!
And yes, the right part is indeed hazy. Partially due to snowfall there but also due to my not so narrow aperture and used tele - that as a tele has a rather small DoF.
Thanks for the nice detailed comment and see you as a mountaineer!
Hmm I´m a lowlander not very used to mountains. I tried for fun to guess which rute I´d choose. It´s difficult to get a sense of the size of the rocks, but I chose mainly the route in the middle, and as my second choise the one on the right. I also considered one far left, but I think it looks too steep. Maybe it looks quite different when being there though! Thanks for the quiz. About the photo itself then it really looks like a fortress. It´s hazy on the right maybe due to the weather or the taking itself? Annemette
