I think this would look better in bw tones then this light sepia. the thing I think that bugs me here is the shadows on her cheek from her hair. everything else I like. you did good work here.

Thanks tons Howie. That was one of the most honest and helpful critique that I've ever gotten. I really appreciated it. I see what your saying on the sepia. I sometimes just like the warm feeling of it though I see your point. The hair in the eye was also bothering me but I couldn't fix it post so it will have to be something I keep my eye on in the futur. Thanks! Angela

As this is a CC I'll try to help as much as I can. Firstly for me, I'm not a fan of sepia unless it's relevant to something very old. So for this capture, a black and white conversion or colour version would be better imho. The tilt to the head is nice but it would have been a little better imho also if she had been a little more side on. The hair on her left eye is neither covering the eye or fulling revealing the eye which does distract just a little. All in all though, she has a very nice smile, expressive eyes and good even lighting through out the portrait. For me, its good but small changes would improve it so it's a 5/7 from me. Hope this helps.

Great portrait Angela. The subject must know you, she is so relaxed. It's a beautiful capture of a nice moment in time. On the technical side...your levels could do with some tweaking. The whites are a little blown out at the bottom and the detail may not be able to be recovered. The crop that you chose is very tight, I'm guessing for a reason. Was there something there that you wanted out? Hope this helps, Regards Ron.
