great focus on the name and use of limited DOF... but you're right for the background

I like every thing about it. Nice focus and composition! A cleaner background may also be appealing, leaving more the flower to stand out more on it's own.

Great shot, and maybe a more vertical angle would make it greater...

Very nice coloring on the sky though the water might have a little more sense of blue, Ashley. And the details are really very nice, as is the DoF. What was your focal length here?

As about composition, chossing one of the trees, either to the left or to the right, and leaving the other off image would work better.

best wishes,

Nick

The light is OK, but again, the background does not really fit the very clear lines of that wonderful instrument, Ashley! Also, in this case, selective focus is not really as strong, as a a deeper DoF would have been for getting the great gear really sharp on the photo. As about the name put with those impossible characters on the guitar, it only interrupts the wonderful flow of warm wood colors. Such things are for crazy guitars, just like those of EVH, but on such an instrument with a very classical look, they destroy the simplicity of shape.

BTW, what pickups does this beauty have?

Best wishes,

Nick

Great selective focus in combination with perspective here, Ashley! Could you try that again by putting something white in front of the dark background? It just draws too much attention away from the great combination of the browns of the guitar and the whites of the carpet.

Best wishes,

Nick

Maybe not original Ashley, but still a top shot. Simplicity is often the best and the colours and glistening of the water and the water drop make it stand out.

Can't see full panoramic size, so can't tell if the soldiers are saluting or have their fingers in their ears :) I think that the cropping is good Ashley, really emphasises the power of the cannon shot.

My sister lives in Alberta, her first Winter there and she said it's one snow storm after another...she sent me a picture of her front yard, looked like sand dunes, but it was snow...LOL. Poor thing she's not a happy hibernater.

Very nice floral image Ashley!! Great the way mother nature makes use of complementary colors..nice dof contrasted against the oof bg...you could take a bit off the right if you wanted to, just up to the second bud from the border, or not, it's lovely either way. :)

As a CC image, I'd suggest that the flower is a bit soft and that there's no need for the space at the right. It's essentially a standing top-down closeup of the open flower.

That's a great shot of the lock Ashley. It's the way it should look in the winter not like my shot with no snow.
I have an in depth knowledge of the Rideau Canal having been it's Chief Engineer until last January when I retired. It a great place to take photos at any time of the year.

I checked out your images of Jones Falls on your web site. They are all very nice. Looks like you were there on a very nice day.
All the best.

I really like the focus on the photo subject, makes the viewer do not lose the attention, very good background, but perhaps a little bit more of light would make the picture even better.
Congratulations Ashley.
Best regards,
Luciano.
