Beautifully composed! You are very talented and a living proof that you don't need a expensive dSLR for professional-looking photos.

Wow! Don't know how you did it, but this is a trully masterly done photo! Certainly one of the better autoportrets I have seen here, if not the best! The more I look at it the more I don't get it One eye could be dog's.. but the other?
Goes to my favourites...

A lot of photographers are kind of 'alergic' to overexposed/saturated pictures, but I often find them most effective, like this one. Well done!

Nice I very much like the choice of a background. It fits perfectly! Excellent photo that's maybe just a bit overcropped/enlarged (the quality started to deteriorate).

Ok, I'll try to explain in a bit more detail...

The filter:
Every developed roll of 35mm film has one or two photos on the start of the roll (that was exposed to light for a long time while putting it in the camera) totally exposed ('black'). You nead to cut out one such photo from a standard, negativ roll. The other you cut form a totally unexposed (black) slide (diapositive) roll. Take these two and put them in the standard slide holder (that white frame you put the slides in) and hold it or somehow fix it in front of your lens.

Shooting:
Put the camera on the tripod and ISO on the minimum. Use a manual/custom WB set on the cloud.
Shoot 5-10 equivalent exposures of the every scene you shoot.

Postprecessing:
1) normalize all the exposures
2) average all the exposures of the same scene (I am using ImageMagick for this, have no idea how to do it in the PS)
3) use either a selective gaussin blur or a NeatImage to further reduce the noise
4) play with the hue/saturation
5) do a slight USM with a large radius (20-30)
6) do a slight USM with a small radius (5-10)
7) do a selective sharpening
All done

No single thing on this photo is in any way remarkable or beautiful but as a whole it _is_ beautiful! It takes much more talent and vision to make a beautiful photo from a scene most people would never even notice then from a intrinsically beautiful scene.
Well done!

I also prefer the second version (with more foreground light).
I would probbably have built a full HDR (high dynamic range) image of this scene.
It's a really fantastic method that enables you to capture both a deep shadow detail and a highlight detail. I discovered it a few days ago and as it is relatively unknown, am trying to spread the word Using a tripod you shoot a couple of different exposure photos (2EV apart) to cover the whole dynamic range of the scene. Then you combine these images with a PS CS, Photomatrix or some other HDR enabled software. What you get is a 32bit/channel(!) image with gigantic dynamic range. You can than use an advanced tone-mapping algoritythm such as Fattal and/or Reinhard to 'collapse' the HDR image back to something you can display on the monitor.
The results can be fantastic!
Take a look at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_dynamic_range_imaging
http://www.hdrsoft.com/
http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/high-dynamic-ran ge.htm

If you are lucky enough to be using Linux, there are a few quite good and free programs for HDR imaging.
Hope I didn't bore you to death

Very interesting photo! The lights are totaly strange shaped Did the camera drop slightly at the start of the exposure? Interesting effect. Looks like candellights.
