Wow Lara! Great image! Interesting that this is the first image from your trip. Can't wait to see the the rest of what you saw. I love the subtle colour, the blue handles and all that african texture.

Thanks Luis. Yeah I realize these images are rather strange. I have been combining all kinds of photography, old and new, together into new images. Here there are combined shadows, objects, textures, text, skull, etc. - db

Hi Mark. It's been an evolution over the past year. I began creating collages out of an inherited photo collection, old letters, stamps, and images from old books. I eventually stopped using ephemera and began combining elements from my own photography and antique images. I guess my inspiration is going towards process now, but it is a world unto itself here in my studio and I thought it would be exciting to explore it. I love signs of decay or signs of the passage of time. mold, stains, scratches, cracks etc. They seem to have a story all themselves. I love implying context too. I haven't posted any of my emphemera collages as I don't think usefilm is the right forum. Anyway, thanks for asking. David
