I like this overall idea. The image could be stronger if there was sharper focus on the girl, and better boken in the background. The lighting on her is very good. It just seems like a faster lens at f2.8 could have allowed for a faster shutter speed (she'd be sharper) and a more blurred background.

Cheers,
Chris

Hey Dave, if you think it's a good possibility you'll drive to this spot, send me an e-mail. It's a little unclear where to park when you get to Pt Judith.

Cheers,
Chris

Hi Dave,

You will regret it if you don't go out in Rhode Island... I know your schedule might not allow it... but if you can get out, I would really recommend it. Although, this isn't once in a lifetime opportunities either - all of these coastlines and lighthouses will be here for some time.

Cheers,
Chris

Nice shot Paul. There is some minor clutter in the bckgrnd beneath her elbow, but doesn't really detract. She's attractive and you captured her expression well. The only other thing I can see would have been to position her so that her dark hair isn't on top of the black portion of the wall behind her so as to have more contract between her and the background.

Nice work,

Chris

Very nice work. As is colors are natural and realistic, as is sharpness. However just abit of PS to increase shadows and highlights just abit, along with neutral balancing colors (looks overly yellow) and a little USM would go along way.

Very nice nature capture.

Great country. The sky is completely blown out. I would have chose a different time of day to shoot this. As far as composition, you might think about something that either eliminates the road or makes it a more prominent element of the composition. The small portion of white/yellow on the bottom right is distracting. I like the color in the trees, and with better lighting and composition you could have a nice scene.

Cheers,
Chris

A nice moment, like the B&W here. Good sky. Foreground works, horizon is a bit centered.

Very good work. So... three separate bracketed shots of the same scene on tripod? Looks really good, very much like a dream,

Thanks for the reply Frank.

I can't lie - the boat stuff is a lot of fun. Plus you get paid... so it's a win-win. Problem is the market is pretty saturated up here in Newport - but the light is almost always good, and we've some of the bigger, better & faster boats in the world.

Cheers,
Chris

Hey Marky!! I like the square crop here... good choice. Noise composition and the grainy colors work here.

Nice landscape Gregory. The reflection works well. A little more foreground interest could be nice - but as is it does give the peace and calm feeling. I think you could have held back a bit on the sharpening. Really nice sky (maybe a bit darker?)

Chris

Nice photo, I'm guessing this is for the shop owner to use?

Nice highlights, good color sturation and focus.

Very nice work. I could tell right from the thumbnail. Nice lines & composition. There are some minor flaws (mainly removing the hair, dust etc. from the scan). But overall a nice scene captured that really captures a feeling.

Thanks Keven for the effort in this comment. It was blowing about 15 knots if I remember correctly.

Have a look through the rest of my portfolio for more Ranger/sailing photos,

Hey Tim. Nice cold light here, and really like the texture in the foreground with the broken blocks of ice. The horizon/sky could be more interesting, but as is it lets the attention focus on the foreground.

Thanks George, I was in 24ft Alpha inflatable, which belongs to the NYYC. I was with Dan Forester who is probably the most accomplished race sailing photographer in the world, and is the official Rolex photographer for all their sailing events.

All they'd need for that would be a big magnet :)

Joking aside, the exposure worked, wish it was abit bigger.

- Also, do try & find the book that movie was based on by Ray Bradbury -

Excellent!

I have to question though - is the boat in the original? I hope it is yes.

The only reason I ask is because it seems like this was a longer exposure given the foreground, but the but isn't really motion blurred? Also lighting seems a bit different.

Good photo either way,

Regards,
Chris
