hey cheryl, i meant something like this where the crane is off centered.

but doesnt necessarily work in this image because you lose the foliage towards the right of the frame...by cropping it so.

this is a very serene scene...i can imagine how soothing it must be to start a morning watching this..

the composition is very nice... if the crane was slighlty to the right of the frame..it would have been even better..

also is it huge crop from the original image? it seems to be slightly unsharp..

Now that is a very cool idea!

If you plan on re-doing the image...my suggestion would be to get a little lower so that you are capturing the person waist up..increase the wing span (to half of what would look like a butterfly)...

..and the dark portions of the image occupy a quarter of the frame..not half..

right now it looks like someone is drowning..may be that was your intention?

Many thanks Tom, but you flatter me more than deserved , this one is a gorgeous image..a breath taking image in its own rights. The exposure and composition are perfect. The light makes the dunes look silky smooth and the sky is straight out of a van gogh painting..

And I definitely like the shrubs at the lower end. Shrubless smooth dunes have been over done...and shrubs do indicate the true nature of the landscape here..

Hi,
How did you mount a zeiss sonnar on a 300d? Do you know where I can buy a similar adapter?

Thanks

The red sunlight on the one building with rest blue works very well and the Ghirardelli board stands out pretty well too..

sitting on a desert road...you are a brave man...
this image is definitely much better with the human element in for scale than would be otherwise..

Yeah, this one would be nice if it was a clear blue sky with afternoon/morning light hitting the pole.

Hey Telmo,

Hey Tom,

Was waiting for your death valley pics. The light and composition are very well chosen. And the picture would not be half as powerful without the moon and the bush towards the bottom-right.

The kettle pictures are very interesting too. Bunch of kettles hung in the middle of the desert, eerie. Where is that? I havent seen it on my trips to DV.

Re. the Amargosa opera house, yes there is a tree at the front end. The view you see in the picture is the side view of the opera house.
