Thanks Stan, for your comment. It's hard to believe a palm can survive in the intense heat of the Australian desert whic surrounds this oasis.
Cheers mate,
JD

Thanks Stan for your comment. I have attached another pic, showing the people at the top of the rim to give you the scale of the sheer walls.
As you can see, there is very little evidence of water marks on the rim, indicating the extreme lack of rain in the area.
I have found the best time to visit is in the High Summer, which is the off-peak tourist time. The advantage is you get to experience the intense ( dry) heat, but the animals, plants are at their peak. You do need to consume around a liter ( two pints ) of water an hour.
Thoroughly recommend it !
Cheers

Nice capture, mate!! the colors and perspective of the enormity of the rocks vs. the people is great. Must be a fantastic place. Never been to Australia but am sure I could get use to it quickly!! How much drop off below the subjects?Have a good one, Stan

Hello JD ... What a beautiful pattern these plants have and colors as well ... You did a fine job with the crop and frame to get the bottom of one leaf and top of the other to show the entire bush and patterns so well - I like it :))

Cheers Mate,
Michele~

Thanks mike once again. I decided to go to the mountains as they are a couple of weeks AHEAD of Sydney with the Autumn bit. I meant to post another one with a bit more of the curvature of the trees. Maybe soon

Thank you, Daniel. Yes the colours are vivid and it is good to just sit in the middle of nowhere, very still and observe the insects, reptiles, rodents and birds that come from 'nowhere'. May I say, after looking at your entries, that you research the animal species, ie, 'grub' not 'worm', and as much info as you can to help members to better understand the subject on hand.
If you need help anywhere, please don't hesitate to ask.
Cheers, mate

Thank you, M. We don't have a lot of 'history' compared to Europe, etc, and a lot was torn down during the 60s and 70s until the populace yelled
loud enough to kerb it. This old arcade was thankfully saved or it too would have gone...
Cheers
