Beautiful image. The background is a little distracting, but not too bad. I'd have liked a more uniform background, but at least it's really blurry, which is better than not.

Kari, What a beautiful shot! Soft and very emotional! The background is wonderful, how it fades seamlessly from almost purple to green. An awsome shot!

I agree, raise the legs and lower the center and it will be a ton more stable

Kari,

I was going through some old shots and found this one with no comments. It looks like it needs a hand. I wonder if you would be able to move in closer to the bunch of bananas or move around to a different angle. Try to put you emphasis on the subject. And watch your shadows. A fill flash will work wonders.
Later my friend,

Russ

Food shots are supposed to be appetizing I think.. But I actually like this with the black spots. It adds character, don't ya think? Anyways...the color is great!

I like target shooting also. I was doing slow fire air pistol shooting as a hobby for a number of years, but not in formal competition. I think a lot of the same concentration and small motor control is real beneficial to camera shooting. They both develop a sort of inner calm that I think transfers well to other aspects of life. Keep up the good work!

This is a nice image. Is there any reason why you chose a fast film? Could you not use a slide film such as vevlia? A slide film would have shown richer colors.

I like the back mailbox. It adds tension. Being out of focus and not in line with the others. Yes, the handle is a little lost, but it gives you something to look for. For me, it's (almost) the main point of the image.

random pop. pretty cool idea. i like the DOF. i may suggest a tighter crop since the handle thingy on the rear box gets lost. losing some frame off the top may make it a bit more abstract. cool shot.

Kari, I love the little 'shrug' in the pose. The blurred background is just right too. I would take a little off of the top to crop in on the subject more. Great shot...

So you like to "SHOOT"!
If you are behind the camera you shoot!
If you have a gun you shoot!
Keep it up, I have these two hobbies as well, and unfortunately both of these are very expensive hobbies!

What are you shooting by the way?
Nice to know you.

Thanks everyone for the comments. For anyone that asked it is a Bogen 3021PRO. I love it! Best gift ever! My Dad informedd me about the leg thing too! I guess I just used the centerpost as a convenience. I am defintely going to keep your comments in mind during my next adventures in shooting! Thanks again!

Potentially great image, good colors - but out of focus. Tripod, cable release or timer, slower film, stop down to a smaller aperture, f16 or f22, wait for a calm moment - worth the effort.

For once the amateurs were right, james
Extend the center column only after all the legs are as far as they can go.

You don't look too happy Kari, or is that because someone else is using the camera

Kari, Don't listen to these amateurs. You do it your way. And take lots of pictures. Glad to have a face to go with the name. Welcome to our club. 3021 right? Nice camera too.

David is correct the center post should be used as a last resort rather than a convenience.

Instead of raising the centerpost, extend the additional leg sections. It will be a lot more rigid that way. When the legs are fully extended and the column is down, the camera should be very close to eye level.
