Dave,
Of all your portfolio this is the one I like most of all.
The focal point of the picture is emphasised both by composition, colour and simplicity.
It could maybe have been cropped slightly on the left, but not much.
The blurred grass adds rather than detracts.
Nice one.

Thanks for your comments Howie, took a number of shots all at different exposures, still practising with PS and haven't come up with a good way of combining them, going to continue trying and repost, I agree it is a little too dark.
Will have to buy an adapter for the 77mm filter size of my new lens so my Grad filter will fit.

The foregrounded tree provides a nice sense of balance with the hard walls of the cathedral, though it's probably the sun and shadow that grabs the eye...

Excellent Dave,..... great moment and captured..... you know, even if you do go back and try with your 'hood' it'll never come out as good as your first one..... had the same thing happen to me, i had a spontaneous photo, and tryed to 'recapture 'the moment when i was more prepared. I could never jus get the right moment again.....

Hi Dave, many thanks for your comment this morning. I just took a quick look through your portfolio and you have some fine images. I felt that in some cases though you haven't managed to get the best out of them. A little like what Kim wrote... so i took the liberty of having a play with this one for you (hope you don't mind) and i hope you see a difference. I straightened it a little and added a grad filter to enable a different exposure for the sky and the foreground. A bit of shading on the lighthouse etc. A great location and well worth a few visits back there. Nice to meet you and keep up the good work. Cheers from Switzerland.

I like the composition here, framing the cathedral with the trees was a great idea. The colors and details are great. The light was rich and warm, produced a lovely scene.
