OK, I know this is totally OT and has nothing to do with beans and franks, but I stumbled on this story and it reminded me of someone...

Neptune! = Mar Vista High. Although, me thinks he would have mightily disapproved of the state of his Ocean there in Imperial "Venereal" Beach, CA.

Southwest High was our rival, I believe, but then again, I wasn't one to care so much about the official extra-curricular activities, not when there was a wave with my name on it sliding in from the deep blue...

Whoa! Winter in Moscow! What's going on there?
...
or is it St. Petersburg now?

I prefer to see views like this with people simply strolling through as opposed to ICBM's and tanks rolling through. Your picture definitely makes this product of the 80's think a bit about things.

It's my monitor, I looked at it on another computer to verify. Too bad for me, I guess.
The silhouettes were what I was "shooting" for. I have another I'll post soon. I took two pictures at that spot.

Thanks for the comments and congrats on your respective awards.

I like this one better. I don't care what Mr. Loseke thinks (just kidding!)

I think it's the fact that the pin in focus is much larger, and closer.

Booth of these pictures creep me out. Push pins and thumbtacks should NOT be in that position. Ever.

I gave you a bunch of page views as I was trying to decide, BTW.

Thank you for your comment on my picture.

Frame! Duh! I guess I was too busy trying to ID the flowers (Clematis, Cosmos, Lobelia) to see the frame.
Sharpening seems to help a lot on monitors, especially if one has used a scanner to "aquire" the image.
Color casts can be problematic, too, so PS is fine, but when people start removing things and cropping way down and switching colors, well then...
Neat planter box.

OK, It's quite possible that this is the rock you were leaning on. I took this pic back in '93.
I like your pic much better

Oh my, this shot makes me remember one time when I was waiting for a bus near a trolley station and watched a car stop just past that same sign (well, not THAT same one), well away from the tracks mind you, but just enough past it to have the guard drop right down on their hood. All the bus patrons there had a good chukle, for sure.

This picture just inspired me to create a series, "Outhouses I've visited."

This one here is so much more elaborate, and dare I say inviting, than the brick and concrete "facilities" they build at the parks here in the US.
Uh... I don't think I want to go on any further with this subject. Nice picture!

I'm sure there's a lot of bird crap on that rock, although I think it's really reflections or "shine".
I just noticed how "un-finished" this pic is. It was a scan from a print and I never used any PS USM or Levels on it. And it's so small.

I can imagine that ladybug thinking "No, that is just the WRONG way. Back up."

The reflection and/or the water could use a little more "shine", IMO. And do get a tripod, a very sturdy one, they help a lot, although in situations like this, you'd still have to hold the flower stalk by hand.
Other than that, GREAT capture.

Thanks for your comment.
Isn't it wonderful when a plant "finally" flowers? I've had that cactus for at least 7 years, and so I just HAD to take pictures of it.
That's a pretty bizarre orchid you have. Why are there so many stems?

This one is the better of the two, b/c of the cropping, although the color in the zoomed-out version is more realistic, IMO.

It looks like it could be from saving it as a jpeg at a low factor ie 5 out of 1-10, if Neat has that option, or trying to save it at a small target size. JPEG tends to "artifact" lines like that at higher compression ratios, you can see it in images that have text in them. Unless of course the picture had that to begin with, then I dont know.
I like the composition.

I agree that the possibility of a more dramatic angle could make this scene even more powerful, although I wasn't there, so I can't really say that you COULD have gotten a better angle.
I like the way you have juxtaposed the grocery store bag, but as far opposing elements goes, your other picture captures that so much better.
These two pictures are definitely good, thought provoking, journalistic photos.

That face on the billboard makes me think he's saying "So, you're thinking about going into that bar, huh?"
Anyway, that's a pretty outrageous monument, for sure.

Someone mentioned in the forums that titles are worthless, that the pictures should speak for themselves.
This photo and title proves that that theory is weak, at best.
As far as just the photo itself, I like the colors, the way the male frogs are tied in with the leaves and the female with the rock. There's a subtle symmetry there.
