Her eyes grab you and don't let go! Great composition and lighting.

Pete, my image is next to yours, so I thought I'd add my two cents worth while I'm looking. I like good macros and this qualifies as that. The toughest part of macro photography for me is getting the DOF right, and you did so here. Every important part of the butterfly is in focus. The color is right on, and I like the composition that puts the pink thing in the backround squarely between the wings. This works very well to my eye, I will probably be trying to do something similar and as well in the near future...

Nan, this is in a Nature Center where the deer, until recent culling, were populous and easily approached. I was, maybe , 30 feet? I stalked this fawn for about an hour before I got close enough. I need to clean this up a bit in PS, but I like the shot.
Thanks for your interest!!

This works very well for me. The eyes grab my attention and do not let go! And that, for me anyway, is what portraiture should do. Very strong "Emotional Appeal" rating. Nice!!

This is the kind of thing that I wish I knew how to do. I very much like this image, I think it has a strong emptional appeal, at least to me. Very well done, Shahram, I wish it were mine!

Thanks for commenting, I thought this would sink into total oblivion w/o a single comment. This just didn't scan well, as the purose of the image was the layers of grasses in fore-, mid-, and background. The slide has a very discernable "paintbrush" effect which, for the life of me, I can't get onto a scan. The deer is just a point to draw the eye into the picture. Oh well, time to move on the the next effort...

Exciting! Well presented, well exposed for difficult light.

Outstanding, not a flaw that I can see. Just couldn't be better.

Good effort, accomplished what I think you were after. My only criticism might be that the suject appears to me to be not quite as sharp as the line of the leaf it's sitting on. Nitpicking, though.

Jim Forbes, you have a good eye - it WAS taken through dirty glass. I'm a novice at scanning & PS, so will have to wait until I learn how to "touch up" before I can give this the attentionit deserves. Thanks for the insights...

A superb effort. Great detail considering the extension, and lighting is perfect. Wish it were mine!
