I like how you converted it into a 1950's style photo effect, similar to ones taken with an old Brownie camera and flash bulbs, remember those?

A lovely inn, at a lovely countryside. It's nice how the snow provides fill lighting for the shady side of the house.

When we photograph, we paint with light. This takes it to a more direct approach. I like the pitch black, which is great for the colors of the light drawings.

What a view! It looks like the 'magic kingdom' all grown up, if you know what I mean. You can do a lot with the sky, instead of it being total white-out. What can be done is taking an image of clouds or unusual atmospherics and adding it on as a layer. Lots can be done; it's a fun image to work on, and of course, to look at.

A fascinating image. I think it communicates effectively the beauty of reptiles.

I think this is something that tells a lot about the home. It's not how new or how large it is, but about who lives there, and the good that's in it. And there are memories that if a home could speak, would tell of things that perhaps only a photograph could communicate.

Makes me long for the open road and some cameras in my suitcase. The colors are amazing...they make the whole composition work.

When it comes to light, you are a romanticist and sentimentalist. Keep up the wonderful vision..best wishes!

Superb photography. Without these types of special places, could a country ever have a soul?

It's harsh, but romantic and sentimental. I can almost see the years, the generations going through.

I like how you used the formations on the left and right to create a natural frame within the photograph itself. The sky fading to deep blue is spectacular, as are the red monuments. We were there in 1986 if I remember correctly. The color print film has deteriorated badly during the years. Maybe I'll be back there again.

A spectacular landscape, with a somewhat surreal element in the form of shed antlers looking like an alien life form. I also like the sharpness via the Leica lens...how I miss my Digilux II. Sigh.

It brings back memories of when I did a series in LA in the '80's. It's alive with humanity. Can you imagine what reactions this would cause a couple hundred years from now (if humans are still around a couple hundred years from now)?

I like the effect, because it doesn't have the PS look. It's more subtle, more of an in-lens appearance.

Very good, very street. Pure street. No pretentions, nothing extraneous. Just the moment.

It's literally a revelation into another person's world; that microcosm made even more distinct by the unconventional pinhole.

Looking into some mysterious abyss. What a view. Makes it even more mysterious with the camera your are using. I like Holgas.

Nicely set up, and the the direction of the lighting is just right. The only thing is, I think the light's too much on the yellow end. There are situations where going to the far yellow or far blue end works, but I think this should go just a bit more to the blue end.

That is true. Impartiality, a list of aesthetic criteria, a little bit of subjectivity, and visual appeal should be it.

Andre, that's why I think everyone should come in with the mindset that it's not for awards, but to share. If the staff awards you, that to me is a big deal, and I'm very thankful for the recognition. I was thinking of the possibility of creating an award button that anybody can press to give a photographer an award. In a way, that exists already, in the form of "add to favorites."

Is this local? I love the old California-style Spanish architecture, especially the missions with their arches and high ceilings. This is timeless in its atmosphere.

I was very surprised when it got the SC. There are so many deserving photographers here in UF who have yet to be awarded.
