This is a lovely and peaceful shot Steve, this is definitely a tranquil effect to viewing it! I even like the way you've not cropped more of the photo on the left, as it makes for a more interesting composition. The colours and details in the flower are very good, and it is nicely in focus. This is an excellent piece of work, well done! Regards, Stephen

Gerbera Daisies are my favorite, and the underside of them has a place in my heart. B&W is a nice choice to show all the lines and interesting detail that is usually overlooked. This particular flower seems to be a bit beat up... I see some marred lines and blotches. I think it's okay to show a flower's flaw, but only if that is the main attraction of the picture. Here I find it just distrubs the nice flow of the petals. I really like the DOF here, how the foremost part of the flower is in focus and then drops off towards the back. Adds a spark of character since so many pictures have everything in focus!

Playing rich red... Excellent photo! I like this one more, soft focus, but all textures are shown excellently, and can feel every petal... perfect depth of color! Thank you! Regards, ALexey

Steve - I like this macro and see a lot of potential in this photo. I personally think adding a color would bring out it's detail. I took your FANTASTIC photo and added some color. Let me know you thoughts. Thanks, Rick

Being a fan of tight crops and close ups, I loved the thumbnail...I think this can still work, but have just a couple of suggestions...IMO the viewer is drawn to the sharpest area first and in this case, that area has a few flaws in it...if it were mine I would have cloned those areas...the dof again, IMO should be greater, but I think if the flower were cleaned up and the contrast raised a bit it could well be a stunner!...I like the black and white aspect to this and the fact that the whole flower does not appear does not bother me...that simply is an artistic choice
