Yup, I know the focus is fuzzy. But, I'm an old guy and my eyes are kinda fuzzy so it all works out. Zipping thru PHX the other day and saw it out of the corner of my eye. No camera. Had to go back and find it again. One wonders what goes through the mind of the Municipal Sign Bureau when they do things like this. BTW, I really like your End Bush posts.

Thanks for the comment. Technique is remarkably simple. But, you're right, a righteous good storm on a dark night helps a lot!

Beautiful! IR is my favorite medium and this is a wonderful example. I particularly like the abundance of vegetation that ties the IR effect in all the way to the house. Bravo! 7 outta 7 from me!

Some of the newer cameras, notably Pentax MZ-S use an infrared signal to monitor film transport. This will fog IR film. I discovered this the hard way. Kodak HIE is very sensitive to any stray radiation and it may be advisable to put a small strip of black electrician's tape over the little clear window on the camera back. Otherwise, this is a pretty good IR image. IR gets stunning results with vegetation. Chlorophyl is a very good IR reflector. Strangely, aluminum aircraft become very smooth in IR. It's my favorite medium. Enjoy!!

Infrared is my favorite medium. Aside from the usual suggestions that go with color or BW and relate to composition, etc, I have found the IR does best with subjects that effectively reflect IR, e.g. lush foilage. Also, there is a sort of smoothing effect when shooting metallic objects. Practice makes perfect. I like your efforts a lot!!!

Where did you get a photo of my ex-wife? Without getting to the technical merits, I rate it a 7 for sheer bravery.

It's a little dark for my taste. And I would have cranked in a bit more contrast. (But what do I know?) I do like the perspective a lot. Good job!

There is something about this photo that I really like. I have come back to it again and again. Great composition and wonderful coloring. Thanks for another great photo post!

No kidding! My two heathens do this all of the time. Not only drag it home, but try to pull it through the dog door.

Strange how these things happen. I was driving down a county road, something caught my eye, I pulled over, rolled down the passenger window and hit the shutter. I was an accident. I am trying to have more accidents.

I had never heard of the 30 Degree Train Rule, but will try it next time. In this case, I tried to get as close to the rails as I could without getting hit. This was shot from the signal on the grade crossing with the engine approaching at around 70 mph. If I had to classify the technique, I would say it was Dumb Luck.

The reason that it is "soft" or "fuzzy" is because my eyes are "soft" and "fuzzy". I honestly can't see well enough to focus. Thank God for Auto-Focus - as far as it goes!

This is a wonderfully dramatic subject. I like the overall effect. It would have been nice to get some flames in there, too, but I well know that one takes the angles as they come. My only criticism goes to one of my pet peeves. I think that in the title, you want the plural and not the possessive form of "volunteer", hence "Volunteers at Work". Just a little nit picky thing.

Incredible statement. Even more incredible that municipal authorities would have to post something like this to begin with. I am really impressed with the clarity of the one shot camera.
