About Anyone who grew up, or was grown up in the 60's will probably instantly recognize the significance of this image. 42 years ago today JFK was assassinated while waving to a crowd, riding in a car almost exactly the same as this one. Obviously this is not a Presidential limo, but the visage of these early 60's Lincoln Continentals will forever be associated with Nov.22/63.
Photo taken in 1971. Scanned from a Kodak Tri-x negative.

Hi Mark,
Unfortunately for me these cars always give me the creeps! I usually associate them with either the Kennedy assasination or a funeral procession. Neither scenario is exactly a bundle of laughs.

Even subconsciously, the face of these Lincoln Continentals will affect a person. It also brings back other memories. It was a simpler time, had its own troubles and problems, but I had good memories because I was lucky to have been a child in that decade.

Thanks Ray,
This one was really part of my little series on laneways and driveways. But since the anniversary of the Kennedy assassination was only a day or two away when I came across these negatives, I thoght I would do this one with a different title.

Thanks Darlene,
It was quite a coincidence that I would come across an image of this particular car just a day before the anniversary.

Hi Susie,
Thanks for the nice comment. I wouldn't say "amazing" ... but you can say it if you want :) All I ever tried to do was copy the styles of different photographers from photo annuals and books from the library. I am so glad that I never threw anything away. Digital has given a lot of my old negatives and prints a second life.
I am using many of my negatives for the first time, because quite often I only made 8x10 contact sheets and picked a couple to work on in the darkroom.

Thanks Shady,
I was 14 at the time. And that day will never be erased from my memory. My Grandmother was convinced that the Kennedy assassination was the prelude to WWIII.

Wow, you have been taking great photos for a long time. Mine is a fairly new passion...how cool to have been behind the lens for so long. You must have an amazing portfolio of shots at home.

Thanks for the detailed comment Rashed.
You can find many interesting images around those auto graveyards. There is always something extra interesting about ruined, abandoned luxury automobiles.
This one, of course has a different negative significance today.

Thanks Rosario,
I find most old cars interesting for one reason or another. But this one is even more so. I was reading an article in the newspaper about the JFK assassination the other day. Then, only a couple of hours later, I found this negative in my files. I thought, why not post it on the 22nd?
