Alex, I don't think additional cropping will help. I played with your photo on PS Elements and got rid of the white with the clone stamp, and I used the unsharp mask and sharpen tool to sharpen the image. I think that's all you have to do. And, by the way, I also love the way the baby's hand is waving. It's really a lovely shot.

Nice composition and palette. Personally I would prefer this photo be a little less blurry and that the white triangle above the father's head weren't there. There's a lot good to work with here.
