About This is the final member of this triptych taken under Shinjuku Station in the heart of Tokyo, showing artifacts and goodies from Japan's southernmost islands of Okinawa. The fisheye is quite difficult to use, but repays the effort with pictures that coudn't be taken any other way.

Sharp and colourful with some interesting fisheye curves, Roger.
Best regards, Chris

Thanks, Gary. I try to avoid emphasizing the "fisheye" look as this is a visual cliche and soon palls. Often I will use software to "defish" the image, but this has its limitations, too.

Okinawa is half way to Taiwan, and gaudier Chinese traditions prevail. Japan only appropriated the Kingdom of Ryukyu (the formerly independent Okinawa) comparatively recently.

Gabriela? You two were obviously on the same wavelength... She's a great commenter as well as a good photographer!

The fishey is more prominent here, Roger, than in some of your recent work with this lens. But that's a good thing. It draws attention to the fact there is so much going on in this view...so many colors! Would you say the Okinawan art is more bold than that of the mainland? It's my impression from your recent images, having never been to Okinawa myself. Great shot Roger and as always I enjoy looking at your photographs for long periods of time.

And by the way, thanks for hooking me up with Gabriela. I really like her portfolio a lot and have told her so of course...Gary

What a great shot, I love the use of the fisheye. The color is also very appealing
