Thank you very much for your fast reply. You put it in terms that I could understand very well. The more I ask the more I learn.

I have one more favour to ask when you have time if you wouldn't mind. I took a photo of some mushrooms. It's called "Metropolis" in my portfolio. Although I liked the image I was hoping the actual mushrooms could have been sharper. They were quite small about the size of the blades of grass around them. I couldn't use a tripod cause I couldn't get it low enough to the ground so I got down on my belly with a 75-300 Canon zoom lens and tried my best to hold the camera as steady as I could while I shot off a few photos.

If you get some time would you mind please taking a look at it and letting me know if and how I may have been able to get such a shot sharper...other than using a macro which I don't have yet.

It would be very helpful if you could tell me whether you think the slight blur or softness might have been camera shake due to the large lens or no tripod. Or if you think there was some other reason you can think of I'd love to know. Perhaps there is no way to get a sharper image without a tripod or a macro. I don't know but I would like someone to tell me.

Thank you for taking the time to help. I appreciate it very much. I'll try not become a bothersome pest by asking too many questions. :)

Cheers - Ann :)

Hi Ann, thanks for the comment! The reason for the slow shutter speed was that the lighting was just a desk lamp, so relatively dim, as it was taken inside, at night. I also wanted a smaller aperture, (lens opening) to get good depth of field, or sharpness, throughout the image, which in turn made a slow shutter speed necessary. Using the slow shutter speed necessitated using the tripod to avoid blurring the shot. Hope this helps, if your have any other questions, feel free to ask, that's why we're all here!
Dave.

How did I miss this little gem? How funny. I love a comical photo and this one really made me chuckle.

One technical question though Dave. Can I ask you why you used a slow shutter speed and a tripod for this? It obviously isn't moving. I'm still in the learning curve here so I really don't understand. I thought varying shutter speeds were for moving objects like waterfalls or fast sports action shots. Sorry to show my ignorance here but very curious and keen to learn.

Thanks for the chuckle.

Cheers - Ann :)

ROFLOL, EXCELLENT Dave. I love it.

I have been so bad lately with comments and want to apologize. I have just caught up on your portfolio and all the photo's I missed. They are awesome. I wish I had the time to comment on each and everyone of them but it would not do them the justice they deserve. Thanks for all of your comment Dave and hopefully before the end of the year I can get back into my regular usefilm commenting routine.

Great work in this one...love the hot pink.
