Actually, Anthony, I seldom, if ever, use the sharpen tool. I usually use the high pass sharpening which can be easily controled with the opacity. I don't remember if I sharpened this image or not. If I did it was only a tiny bit. Thanks for your comments, and thanks for giving it the old college try :) I really appreciate the imput!!! Kathy

bah - it's not so good on an already compressed jpeg image. BUT it's a great tool to use Kathy, especially if your subject cries out for that bit of extra crispness without being overdone. Best ragards, Anthony

UnSharpMask - it's a MUCH better solution than simple sharpening in PS - much more subtle and effective. It uses really smart processing that isn't crude...lemmy try it on this image.
BTW - in PS it's FILTER/SHARPEN/Unsharp Mask

Looks like fire won out Kathy. As you know, I adore this sort of subject. Are you using USM in PS?

Great colors and texture in the wood, Kathy! I can see the claws! I see the Phoenix bird, re-born from its ashes. Wonderful abstract! Regards, Ina

Thanks for your visits, Kathy! I am looking forward to seeing your railways pics. In the meantime: this is beautiful. A good way to prove that it is not the camera butthe eye which makes the good photographer. Excellent textures, fine colors. Best: Gyorgy

I really like the texture. The left side almost looks like rock erosion. The colours are rich and your idea is clear. It's a wonderful abstract Kathy. Well done.
Cheers

Whoa...this is pretty! I really like the vignetting too, it plays up the burned out side really well. Very well done...the frame is perfect...and I love the title. Good post abstract Queen! :)
