I like this but for the dark corners. Just me as others seem to like this more. It's the beauty of art...we don't all like the same things for the same reasons. Kinda like people, some like thin, some like curves...blondes, redheads, a cup, d cup, enough for every taste! ;-)

I see what you mean, and I did try to get more of the centre in focus...but it was more of a priority for me to use a super shallow dof - which meant combined with the angle I couldnt get any more in focus. I thought it worked out cool, just to have the very edge detail anyway :)
thanks for looking!

The soft blur around the edges is great but i would have been much better if the details of the flower core was sharp. I like it with such dark background and angle. Cheers Peta.

Beautiful!! Love the perspective with the petals leading me into the ring of stamens, and the one stamen in sharp focus set off by the pistil behind it.

Wow, I really like the colours and focus. The softness of the purple with the details of the yellow.

Angelo the petals are so so thin and delicate I did try to arrange them on another but they all fell off...so I just let this one be. I like the gap..I think it leads your eye in :) Thanks so much for your thoughts.

Thank you Jan!! I did want to ensure the stamen (or whatever they are called) were in focus so that your eye had somewhere to fix onto.

This is very beautiful and enjoyable, Peta. Excellent shallow DOF and a very nice flower specimen. Great lighting.
Perhaps the flower is missing a petal, however. The lower left of the picture seems out of step with the rest of the pic.

Peta - Beautiful shot - love the colors - looks like you focused tightly on 6-7 of the stamen (or pistals--can't remember what those things are called) and allowed the rest to go soft. What a delicate shot - yet the dark background contrasting with the shades of lavendar also make it very dramatic. Well done! Jan
