About
This is what used to be the crusier section of "Inactive Ships." They were never active again. Some were used as targets, but most were scrapped. That means cut apart and the high quality steel was recycled. We used to joke about shaving with razor blades made from them. It was a very eerie place, especially after dark. These ships all served in WWII and fought in many engagements. Some guys swore they saw and heard sailors still aboard them. I don't doubt this. Well, this particular group is gone now. The remaining graveyard of ships is up by San Francisco, in Suisun Bay. Some of my former homes afloat are there until their final disposition is determined. I will miss them.
