Joe, I agree with Andrew, you gotta get some even light on your subject - flash, bounce, something. The garden can be used effectively for your model here, but it seems like you just shoved your model into the picture not knowing exactly how to use her. I'd suggest using a tighter composition on her and a wider aperture to reduce the distraction of the background. If you want to feature the garden with the model, put the girl into the garden to help tell some part of the story (kneeling to smell a flower maybe). Another suggestion for you, wait later in the day. I don't know exactly what your circumstances were for this picture but it looks like you shot mid-day, under real hard light. This doesn't help your cause either.
The curious part of this is that the other images in your portfolio indicate that these concepts aren't totallly foreign to you. You've got some really good images here. The last two posts just seem rushed and thoughtless in comparison (IMHO).
Joe, nice colours and lady but a couple of things. Firstly I think the composition is a little unexciting, just her torso with a pretty background. The main criricism is the shadows on her face which makes it a little distracting. Some flash would help here or move her into a completely shaded area or completed lit area. Half/half does not work too well.Looks like a beautiful garden there.
