Hi Neil, Thank you so much for your wonderful comment and nice note. I'm pleased very much you like this one, also one of my favorites.
Not to worry about not being online much, I also have been scarce here. I do miss not spending as much time online, but right now it's difficult. We are preparing to move, have our house for sale and will be leaving sunny California for Minnesota. (Huge change) But am ready, and will have new sights to photograph, if I can stand the cold!
Take care Neil, stay in touch! Lori :)

Hi Lori, well i hope your day wasn't too gray! Many thanks for your recent comment. I haven't had much time for UF lately, i've been busy working on a project of my own :) and hardly even had time to pick up a camera. Just got back from a weeks holiday in Italy, so you were able to see the first of those photos. Hope all is well with you? This is a great photo, with the ambiente. You have captured. The lack of colour generally and the loneliness portrayed in the photo (for me anyway) is brilliant... and to top it off you've directely added a small frame. I like your style very much. I find it relaxing. Now i need to catch up on some comments. But hope to visit your Portfolio again soon, i've missed so much... sorry.
Best wishes Neil

How you can turn a grey and dull day into a bright and beautiful seascape is beyond me, this is absolutely magnificent !
I love the composition also, just like a watercolour - but real :-)

Excellent Lori - almost look like a watercolour painting (not the PS kind!). I really like the composition with the rocksand gulls placed in the bottom quarter and then the very well exposed, gray sky. Magic. I would print and mount it for my home. 7/7 and to my favs. Regards. Joggie

Hi Gayle,
Thank you so much! I do appreciate your nice words. Funny, I really liked this one, yet I hardly spent much time on it at all.
Usually I do a lot of PS, (love that program), so I felt like I was cheating! LOL
Thanks again, Lori :)

I'm not sure what you've done to this, if anything, Lori, but it has a superb 'feel' and 'look' to it! The sea has a dreamy look whilst the rocks and birds still retain some good detail. Beautifully done! Best regards, Chris

How on earth can a gray day look this beautiful?! Love the tones/mood ... the birds in the foreground add so much! Very few things on UF could hang on my wall - this is one of them!

This seems to have captured the sense of time and place perfectly. Looking at this, I feel as if I can hear the seagulls and the gently breaking waves, and even smell the sea. The softening focus past the birds, and the bright diffused light--with just enough detail in the sky--all work together beautifully. And I do appreciate the fact that the colours have been left subdued, with no unnatural boosting of saturation. That and the very limited palette of colours give it a truly authentic look. It joins my favourites!

Hi Lori, this is an awesome shot. The rather hazy day leaves enough room to be bright, so it seems. The almost obscured horizon provides the effect of an endless view, shared only by the gulls in the foreground. And, the cherry on the pie (if that's even close to the proper expression) there's enough detail and contrast in the sky to complete the image. I love those days. Great for a walk, and you proved that it's also great for shooting fantastic pics!
Cheers,
Hugo
