I used to play polo... but with a mallet rather than the quasi scoop... which is new to me... but clearly down under... there are differing ways...
The lens and apparent shutter speed made the capture to show the by-standers in the shade... what they are missing...

Elisabeth...I honestly couldn't tell you. I photographed so many matches that day...and it is so fast pace that I really don't concentrate on that. I am more focused on the action in the camera....sorry about that.

Wow thanks Keith. I have over 200 images like this from this tournament...I am sure you would love them...but I won't be showing many of them as they would bore you all. There is everything from horses sitting down in action to close ups of galloping hooves.

well, when ever i "scoop on the run" it rarely involves polo or horses and most definately includes ice cream and some sort of chocolate...

Hi Ellen. I was asked to photograph this tournament for the players. This is not staged and it is extremely fast and dangerous. I came close to being run over a couple of times but as they warned me....I just had to stay put and they will veer around me...so I did. The horses are only on for 3 minutes at a time rotating with the other team members for a period of 40 minutes. This tournament went for two days involving children and adults. Fantastic to watch.

Geez Judi do you do this for fun or is there big money in this? Is this a "shoot" where this is staged for the camera or are you just plain crazy? Excellent shot. I love your shots where you have the action coming from off frame it is different in an exciting way. Honey regardless of weather or not you're crazy you sure can shoot!
