Hi Angelo, thanks for showing! Good job, the contrast and tones come out more lively. Compared to the original, you've definately improved the photo where the softness is conserned...
Cheers,
As usual, its good to be back.... I find leaving fun too, but there's nothing better than returning:)

Great to have you back, Hugo! As always, an excellent and considered comment, which I will bear in mind for the future.
Here is the original, straight out of the camera.

Hi Angelo,
Good combination of textures and tones, yet the apparence seems a bit soft. Could that have been because of the postprosessing? Would be interesting to see your tweak compared to the original...
As to the composition, it's fairly straight forward, but well balanced. The center of attention placed towards the lower left works is something that I always tend to see in a photo. Also, the two long "twigs", leading the eye to the lower left and upper left break the frame well, adding the tension (in my lingo) to the image.
Cheers,
Hugo

Isn't it amazing how mother nature perseveres no matter what is put in the way? These plants have some kind of a will to live to grow in mortar! A wonderful natural composition, maybe the flowers are a tad bit blown, but I like the coloring in it. :)

Outro belo contraste Angelo. É incrível como algumas plantinhas conseguem nascer em situações tão adversas. Bela captura. Abraços. Guilherme.

Yes, Danny. Michael was spot on.
Now my wife has gone on vacation with the kids and taken the Ixus. So I'll have to lug the 10D around instead. And you know what that means...
...an aching shoulder! :))

I love the mix of nature and man made...gives the feeling of unity for some reason...how we all share the same place...the colors are beautiful and brick/concrete because they can be so colorful, is becoming a favorite of mine...this is a very nice collection of colors and textures, very well done and pleasant to see....:):)Linda

Pleasant pic Angelo but it does need something else. I don't usually readother comments before doing my own but for some reason i did here and I thin Michael is correct.Knowing you i have a feeling you will take his comments on board and get it "right" next time. You usually do however some of our pics have to be taken for the fun of it or to test the camera and they cannot all be winners.

Thank you for your excellent comment, Michael! I do appreciate it.
You are, of course, correct. These shots were taken more on instinct than with great attention to detail and composition. I ought to go back with my SLR kit and macro lens and try again, explore the subject a bit more.
These were taken with my compact Ixus, which I always have in my pocket. But your critique has struck a chord and spurred me to go back and explore more possibilities.
Thank you again! Angelo.

I like this one the most out of your flower / brickwall series. That old brick has a lot of character and texture to it - makes me think of England / Europe. Very nice job on this one. Mark

The wallflower shots have an interesting subject and are facinating, but I was wondering if you thought of tweaking your shooting just a bit:
Apply a bit of an off-centered shot to the subject, rule of thirds perhaps - to allow the flowers room to grow. In this shot perhaps placing the plant in the upper right would give the eye to track the tendrels downwards and off to the left...
Also look at using a bit more DOF to blur the wall and pop out the flower - or I suppose you could get a little bit closer or macro the flower to show more recession into space?
Not sure what may work for you, some comments...
