Great composition. I like this kind of combination of motion and stasis.
I get the unsettling feeling that there are converging lines from left to right, suggesting that the film plane wasn't parallel with the wall, but it looks more like the lines really do converge, because the building really isn't square. Sometimes when I have a frame like this, I wonder whether I shouldn't try to correct it, even if that isn't how it really was in real life. I suspect though, if you tried to correct this one, say, by tilting the easel on the enlarger, you would cause another distortion and would quickly be chasing your tail.
I love the open feel of this. the spaces and shapes have all been carefully considered. would love to see a nice big print on forte fibre paper. i would try a little more contrast to give the shadow more density as it ties the figure back into the composition - although that may come at the price of luminousity. the magic of trix and a great lens.
Thanks Alisa. For me the figure always worked where it is because it balances the darker, larger roof section on the left. It was one of those shots where I was just acting instinctively and discovered wonderful textures and compositional elements only when you see the print.
