gayle, dig the composition! very reminiscent (sp?) of some florals. actually, the more i look at it, the more things i see. it's a bit of a shapeshifter, this one. mesmerizing even. i like it a lot.
i think it's the angle of the pole/stem/axis that makes this one go. if it were vertical it would disturb the fluidity of the composition by telling me unequivocably what it is. this state would prevent me from seeing it in any other way. i could just say it's dynamic, but that would be too easy, vague and simplistic. great work, gayle.
take care, tom

Thank you,Yutaka...thought this was a japanese style parasol and love the bamboo...think this one was canvas instead of traditional oilcloth...

I think you got it down just right. Looks like an easy shot to make, but there are only small possibilities.

Margaret....cross with you? Thank you for taking the time to brighten my image and to comment...as you can tell, i do prefer darker contrast images, but don't mind that you prefer "brighter ones" ;> ....have always been drawn to the darker, mysterious side of things..LOL..and am actually feeling less spinal/back pain for about 10 days now! Thanks for asking...you are a dear!

This one's really beautiful. I love how the wood underneath is seen instead of just left all black. Lovely blue and perfect composition. Great all around, Mark

I like the darkness of it. It really sets off that sneaky golden glow on the wooden parts. The lighter part of the blue in the upper right gives a nice direction to the light. I think it is most excellently done.

This chinees umbrella is looking like a wonderful flower. Colour connection is perfect.Say thanks to your umbrella.like this composition-lines outgoing from corners, also love to do this. but in my amateur opinion, maeby it would be better to lighten up left corners. would be favorite for me...due to this colours.

I like everything about this, except it seems a tad too dark for me. I think you might be losing some details in the wood. It just might be my monitor though. Bob

Well the colour sure is eye-catching! I like the placement of the middle of the umbrella... the lines are very powerdful coming off of it. DOF is great too... everything is sharp and in foucs. Nothing to critique... couldn't be better in my eyes!
