WOW...I'm throughly impressed! Don't know why I was thinking they also 'grew' a bit! I had visions of a lawnmower up there...(well, that's a bit extreme)....
Thanks for the info!! L:)

What an idyllic cottage Chris. You have such a way of portraying buildings like this you could get a job as a photographer for an estate agent. Their turnover would increase dramatically just due to your expertise. Well done. Den

Hi Lori, According to 'Answers.com': "A roof thatched with water reed (a more durable and water-resistant material than straw) will last approximately 70 years with very little maintenance. When a thatch roof is in need of repair a new layer is often placed over the old. On old buildings up to four feet of thatch can accumulate." Thanks for your kind comments! Best regards, Chris

Well, whatever you did it WORKED! This is a charming house, it has such character!
How often are these roofs 'manicured'?? I've often wondered that.
Good image, L:)

Dear Roger, I didn't much like the spindly trees, the white bit of sky, the telegraph wires and the pole in the left background, so I took the whole lot out, just leaving the two trees on the right. Then I looked for a suitably lit background and dropped the whole thing in ~ with the blue sky just as it was. Thanks for the comment. Best regards, Chris

Did you have to use the PS "magic wand" to select all the spaces between the branches of those trees on the left in order to make the blue sky look "real"? Faced with that, I've always given up! So you it's not just a natural aversion to changing backgrounds that makes me reluctant, it's laziness, too! For my two yen's worth, while you were about it, why not add a slight gradation to the sky?
